The original translation for "Ötscher" is "father of the mountains". Up to a third of Austria can be seen from the summit. The striking Ötscher is the easternmost high mountain massif in the Alps and a landmark of the Mostviertel region. Exceptional, pristine landscapes, gentle alpine pastures and lakes invite you to discover the region around the Ötscher.
The Ötschergräben, gorges and spectacular waterfalls with paved footpaths, are known as the "Grand Canyon of Austria".

Winter
The Ötscher is one of the most snow-sure ski areas in Austria. And the snow and skiing fun starts right in front of the Ötscher Lodge. That's why the FIS Snowboard World Cup stops here every year. Tobogganing, snowshoeing, alpine skiing (lift access) & Nordic skiing (cross-country ski trail at the lodge) are just a small selection of the possibilities. Or on a sunny winter's day you can relax on a deckchair on our terraces.
Spring, summer & fall
Have you ever bathed in a waterfall? Here are the most beautiful wild swimming spots in Austria. The crystal-clear waters of the Erlaufsee and Lunzer See lakes - both with bathing beaches - are just a few minutes away . The "Ötscher-Lodge" was awarded the "Magnum Award" as an "Ecofriendly Resort" and built in such a way that it is pleasantly cool even during heat waves.
